Brett R. Thomas

Educator, business owner and Technology Director, Brett R. Thomas was elected as a board member of the Talladega Seven Organization in 2021. Brett, a native and current resident of Talladega, AL, has served the community for the past 35 years. After leaving the Air Force, Brett returned home and served the community as a police officer in Talladega for 6 years. He has worked with several organizations that focus on mentoring and assisting the youth of Talladega, such as the DARE program and Project Impact. He left law enforcement and entered the field of education in 1998. He currently teaches at Central High School in Coosa County. During his time in education, Brett has coached softball, basketball, and football. Currently, he is the assistant varsity basketball coach.
Brett began his educational career as a graduate of Talladega High School. He attended Alabama A and M University, where he majored in Computer Science. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree, with a focus In Secondary Education-Language Arts from Jacksonville State University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Brett has a Master’s Degree in Leadership of Educational Organizations from American Intercontinental University and a Masters Certification in Technical Education from Athens State University. In the Air Force, Brett served during Operation Just Cause and Desert Shield. He won the John Levitow Award and Security Forces Airman of the Year three times.
Brett is a member of Kappa Delta Pi Educational Honor Society, the National Society of Leadership and Success, Who’s Who Among Black Educators, and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He has been nominated for Teacher of the Year and has won three state championships in high school basketball.
Eric Paul Chatman

Eric (Paul) Chatman, Vice President, is one of the original founding members of the Talladega Seven Organization. Vice President Paul Chatman is a native son of Talladega, Alabama. He is a 1986 graduate of Talladega High School; Paul earned an Electronic Engineering Degree (EET) from NEC and is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Strayer University. Paul works for Honeywell as an SR supervisor accountable for leading on-site OEM parts manufacturing to support M1 Abrams tanks in the United States and abroad. Throughout his 31 years at Honeywell, Paul held many positions, including Interim Site Leader, Program Management, Supply Chain, Sales Inventory Operations Planning (SIOP), and New Product Introduction. Paul has extensive experience in many areas of management and has a proven track record of reliable deliverables. Notable Recognition: Recognized by VP for leading the Anniston, Alabama site to achieving numerous top business rankings for overall site safety, quality, delivery, and production across AERO; Leadership Achievement Awards and Colleague of the Year for 2002.
Paul is the governor-appointed member of the Talladega Civil Service Commission, serving a second term, and was recently voted Chairman of the Board with responsibilities for maintaining and enforcing regulations in accordance with Alabama Law (2004-436).
Noted qualifications and certifications include; ISO 9001; Honeywell Operating System (HOS), SAP, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office, Servigistics Planning system, Program Management Certification, Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification, TQI(Total Quality), TQII, and HPWO (High-Performance Work Organization) certification; SIOP training, Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen Training.
Paul’s addition as Vice President brings proven leadership to the Talladega Seven Organization, with the vision and drive to continue improving the organization by focusing on the core competencies of developing a solid Non-Profit organization with teamwork, leadership, community involvement, experience, and integrity.
Paul is a member of the WordAlive International Outreach Ministries and enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, golfing, traveling, troubleshooting, or repairing electronic products.
Charles Mumpfield

Operations Manager Charles Mumpfield, Secretary, is one of the seven original founding members of the Talladega Seven Organization. Charles Mumpfield is a native son of Talladega, AL and grew up in the Knoxville Community of Talladega. He is a 1986 graduate of Talladega High School. In pursuant of higher education, Charles attended and graduated Cum Laude from Alabama Agricultural & Mechanical University in 1991, with a B.S. degree in Accounting. Charles currently works as an operations manager in the banking and commercial finance industry where he has been employed for nearly 18 years. Charles advanced skills provide inspired leadership for the Talladega Seven Organization. As Secretary he has put his managerial acumen to task in reviewing operational policies and procedures; documenting and reporting board meetings and ensuring all legal and regulatory documents are filed and in monitored compliance with the Talladega Seven Organization laws and regulations.
He has been associated with various community and charity organizations, and is an active member of the AAMU Alumni Association, and Little Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Huntsville, Alabama. Because of his ethical work with various associations, he is able to promote a company culture that encourages top performance and high morale, and to identify and address problems and opportunities for the Talladega Seven Organization. Charles is a family man who loves spending with his family and in his spare time he enjoys reading as a hobby.
Master Sergeant (Retired) Kenneth A. Stevens, Jr. (Air Force)

Master Sergeant (R) Kenneth A. Stevens, Jr., Director of Resource Management, is one of the seven original founding members of the Talladega Seven Organization. MSgt Kenneth Stevens is a native son of Talladega, AL. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on the 29th of July 1989 and retired on the 1st of Oct 2009 at the rank of Master Sergeant. During his tenure in the Air Force, Kenneth held a myriad of positions. He served as the Non-Commissioned Officer for Tulane University’s Detachment 320 Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC), an enlisted/officer recruiter for four years, the Office Chief for the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) Homeland Defense of the Americas, Superintendent of the OSD Public Affairs Office. After retiring he served as a Senior Staff Officer for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) for four years. He then transitioned to become a High School Instructor at Bessemer City High School, AL as an Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Instructor (AFJROTC) for three years. He is a 1987 graduate of Talladega High School. He earned two Associate Degrees from the Community College of the Air Force in Management and Human Resource Management respectfully, he earned a Bachelor of Administration (Cum Laude) from Strayer University, and two Master’s Degrees in Managementors his 20 years of military expertise to the office serving as Director of Resource Management overseeing all technical projects in alignment with the Talladega Seven Organizational goals.

Yashica O'Neal

Educator and business owner Yashicia, affectionately known as
Shea, was elected a Talladega Seven Organization board
member in 2024. She is a native and current resident of
Talladega, Alabama. She grew up on the west side of town and
attended the Talladega City Schools System until the second
semester of 9 th grade. Shea is a 1991 graduate of Pell City High
School. She earned an Associate Degree from Central Alabama
Community College in Computerized Information Processing
(2002), a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management
from Faulkner University (2008), a Master’s Degree in Elementary
Education from the University of Phoenix (2013), and currently
pursuing an Eds degree in English as a Second Language at
UAB. She has been in education since 2016 after working as a
substitute teacher for 10 years. Shea is currently employed with
the Birmingham City School System, where she has served as
grade level chair, mentored novice teachers and UAB students,
coached the girl's ball team and Girls on the Run, and sponsored
the Coding Club. Shea attends Peace Missionary Baptist Church.
and enjoys spending time with her daughter and two
grandchildren.
